BIOGRAPHY
TOMAS KRAKOWSKI - One of the greatest personalities representing the guitar in the Nordic countries and a world class guitarist. Born in 1962 in Stavanger, Norway. He graduated from 'Musikhögskolan in Malmö', Sweden and 'The Royal Danish Academy of Music' under the instruction of Professor Per-Olof Johnson. Further studies under José Tomás in Alicante, Spain. In 1992 Krakowski was a prize winner at the prestigious 'Concours International de Guitare de Paris' arranged by Radio France.Tomas Krakowski is an active soloist, chamber musician and visiting professor at national and international masterclasses. He has appeared at distinguished festivals and concert halls in many European countries, Canada and USA.
Tomas Krakowski is highly active in the promotion of contemporary music, joining forces with several prominent composers and musicians. Several composers have dedicated works to him. He has recorded a number of pieces by the Danish composer Ib Nørholm at the record company 'Kontrapunkt'.Tomas Krakowski is much coveted as project manager and organizer, well-known for being an enterprising figure on the Copenhagen music scene. He organizes concerts and master classes with world known musicians such as Alicia de Larrocha and John Williams. From 1995-2003 he was Artistic Director of the internationally acknowledged Copenhagen Guitar Festival.

Tomas Krakowski has received several prizes and distinctions for his artistic achievements, including the 'Municipal Artists Grants of Stavanger' in 1983, the 'Carl Nielsen Travelling Scholarship' in 1988, the 'SHELL Prize' in 1989, the 'Axel Agerby Memorial Grant' in 1994, the 'Concert Scholarship of the Norwegian Cassette Tax Foundation' in 1994 and the 'Knud Nissen Prize' in 1999.
